New Exterior Door

Things are changing outside our house.  A second main floor door to the outside is something we long considered, for both safety and convenience.  Having one entrance means that it's both your mudroom and your guest entrance.  For us, that meant the front entry was always housing muddy shoes, work jackets, tools, etc.  It would help, of course, if we were neater, but since we specialize in early American collegiate decor, that's not how we roll.

In conjunction with adding this second door, we opted to install a ramp which would provide no-step access to the house, but also allow someone on the deck to get to the yard directly.  One oddity of our house has been that there was no exit off the deck to the yard.

Here is what the construction zone looks like this morning.  The compressor and FiOS box were moved last week.  The electric company will move their box in a few days.  That will give us time to figure out what to do with the water spigot, something that was overlooked in the planning.

  1. Our deck was built over our water spigot making it very hard to reach. I guess they get overlooked a lot.
