Communication is Key

So today some serious work was done on the plumbing.
The plumbing to be reworked.
At 8 AM the construction crew arrived.  They asked if it was okay to shut off the water.  As my better half was still in bed, I roused him so that he could scurry through his morning ablutions.  When he presented himself--I should just mention he was dressed and ready to head off to work--to the plumbing team, they knew it was safe to turn off the water.  What I had not understood was the extent of their endeavors.  About two hours later I flushed the toilet.  This was met with a multitude of Latinos shouting, "Ay, ay, ay!" and perhaps some more colorful exclamations.  Jorge, the very capable foreman, ran upstairs and knocked on my quarters:  "You cannot use the bathroom now.  The toilet lines have been cut."  Oh, dear.  It dawned on me that the toilet flushing had been a big OOPS!  I would say POOPS!, but thankfully, this had just been, as the euphemism goes, a coffee dump. 😉

Lesson for the day:  Be sure to inform the client when you cut the sewer lines.  And if you're the client, be sure you understand what shutting off the water means.
